Real estate blogs are the single most under-utilized marketing method available to real estate agents.
According to the NAR, only 11% of Realtors have a blog. And as a professional real estate blogger who’s reviewed hundreds of real estate blogs, I can tell you that most of that 11% are…not great.
I see lots of “blogs” that only contain new listing announcements. Lots of neglected blogs that go months between posts. And lots of the copy-and-paste articles the NAR provides to Realtors (which actually hurt your Google rank since the content isn’t original).
If you want to reap all the benefits of blogging, you’re going to have to commit to building a quality blog. And I have some great examples of quality real estate blogs for you today!
You’ll notice a few common features shared by each of the real estate blogs featured in this post. These blogs are all:
- Consistent. You need to publish posts regularly to see an increase in website traffic. Commit to just one post per week and watch your traffic grow.
- Valuable. These agents are publishing truly useful blog content. Their posts are filled with information their buyers, sellers, homeowners, investors, and neighbors can use. These blogs are not just promotions for their new listings.
- Easy to read. The posts are written using straightforward language, short sentences, short paragraphs, headers, and bullet points. You’re not writing a novel. Your blog posts should be easy to scan.
Despite all these similarities, each of these bloggers…sorry, I mean real estate agents…stands out by adding something special to their real estate blogs. They all have their key strengths, and we’re happy to highlight them.
If you’re serious about using your blog to take your business to the next level, learn from these pros!
Bill Gasset
Bill Gasset is the King of Real Estate Social Media. He’s been playing the content marketing game for a long time, and he’s great at it. Most of his posts have social shares in the thousands (I happened across one of his posts with over 15K shares!).
How does he get his content shared? First, it’s great content. Second, he’s active on social media; he consistently promotes his posts to his audience. Third, he uses images that immediately grab your attention.
Notice the Pinterest-ready images used in a few of his posts:
- Hold an Open House to Increase Your Odds of Getting Burglarized
- Selling a Home Vacant vs Occupied
- What Not to Do Before Buying a Home
Also notice that each post contains multiple off-the-wall images. Different images appeal to different social media followers, so Bill’s able to capture more traffic by using multiple images.
See more examples of attention-grabbing images on Bill’s Blog: Maximum Real Estate Exposure.
Anita Clark
Anita Clark is everywhere. In addition to the standard sharing options (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, etc), Anita’s Corner allows users to share on over 10 other social sites including Buffer, Digg, and Reddit. If you’re following real estate agents, you’ve come across Anita’s posts. They’re always well written and well promoted. But there’s another reason I love Anita’s posts: hard data.
Anita backs up her content with sourced facts. This automatically increases Anita’s credibility as a knowledgeable and trustworthy agent.
Take a look at a couple examples:
- Why You Should Repair Your Home Before Selling It
- How Your Backyard Can Increase The Value Of Your Home
- How To Create A Renovation Budget
And check out more of Anita’s posts on Selling Warner Robins.
Lynn Pineda
When I first landed on Lynn Pineda’s blog, her headlines jumped out at me. I wanted to read every single blog post because they all had such compelling titles!
Headlines are half the battle in getting your blog posts read and shared. Generally 8 out of 10 people will read your headline, but only 2 of 10 will read the rest. You have their attention for the headline. They’re either in or out based only on that headline.
Consider a few of these posts:
- 8 Things a Realtor Does Behind Your Back
- True Confessions – What Home Buyers Wish They Had Known Before Buying a Home
- Learn These 4 Secrets to Boost Your Home’s Value
Aren’t you curious about all of those topics? Don’t those headlines make you want to click?

Malcolm Lawson
Malcolm Lawson’s blog is full of interesting and well-written posts. And one of my favorite things about his blog is the variety of topics he covers. The blog is still laser-focused on real estate, but he’s found some brilliant angles from which to reach his audience. There really is something here for everyone.
He covers the basics of buying tips and selling tips, but he often incorporates out-of-the-box posts. Just look at this range:
- 3 Unique Ways To Turn Home Into A Money-Making Property (Hint: It’s Not Airbnb)
- Quick Guide to Using The VA Loan
- Chef Boyardee’s Maryland Mansion Up For Sale!

Joy Bender
You know a Joy Bender post when you see it. Because all the posts are so well branded. Joy has branded herself as the luxury real estate agent in San Diego, and every image on every post reinforces her brand.
Her blog is equal parts real estate and lifestyle. You’ll see lots of posts about high-end living and lots of posts specific to the San Diego Community. Joy knows to focus locally to narrow her online reach to people specifically looking in the San Diego area.

Joe Boylan
The greatest strength of the Springs Homes blog is the educational value it provides its readers. Posts written by Joe Boylan are like bite-sized real estate courses. These posts dig into the details of a specific topic and teach the readers about how the real estate industry operates.
These posts demonstrate exceptional real estate knowledge, which garners trust in prospective clients. Future buyers and sellers who find his blog immediately understand that Joe knows his stuff!
Here are just a few examples:

- Tax Deductions for Landlords: Operating Expenses

Kyle Hiscock
Kyle Hiscock’s blog ticks all the boxes for a great real estate blog. One of the not-so-obvious brilliant features of his blog is the actionable advice.
If you look through the Rochester Real Estate Blog, you’ll notice that nearly every post offers actionable advice that will make an immediate difference to the reader. By the end of the post, you’ll be armed with the information you need to take immediate action and see immediate benefits.

Xavier De Buck
I love Xavier De Buck’s Luxury Homes Johannesburg blog for many reasons. But the most powerful draw may be the provocative (well, provocative by real estate blog standards) topics it tackles.
Topics like:
- 9 Things Home Sellers Do That Drive Real Estate Agents Crazy
- 5 Major Reasons Why People Don’t Like Real Estate Agents
- Should Real Estate Agents Drive Luxury Cars?
Also, as you scroll through Xavier’s posts, pay attention to the formatting. There are social media share buttons everywhere, links to other useful articles, multiple pinnable images evenly placed throughout the post, super-short paragraphs, and lots of numbered lists, bullet points, and white space. This is your posts should look when your visitors scroll.

Eileen Anderson
Eileen Anderson takes a slightly different approach to her real estate blog. Instead of casting a wide net to appeal to as many prospective clients as possible, Eileen has niched down into her local Connecticut gardening community to build relationships with her audience over their shared interest.
In addition to helpful posts on buying and selling basics, her blog is filled with posts like:
- July Gardening Checklist
- Free Garden Tour! Simsbury, CT
- How To Make A Stone Wall With No Steps Skipped!
Someone sees her gardening posts on Pinterest and starts following her for the great local gardening tips. Then when it comes time for that Pinterest user to buy or sell, they already have a relationship with Eileen!

Great Colorado Homes
Great Colorado Homes’ blog is a true team effort. Many (if not all) of the agents on the team contribute to this beautifully designed blog.
The most impressive stand-out feature of this blog is the graphic design elements. I’ve never seen such a fun, but still professional and cohesive, presentation in a real estate blog.
Scroll through a few of their posts to see what I mean:
- 9 Tips for Selling a Home When You Have Kids
- July 2018 Colorado Springs Real Estate Market Statistics
- 3 Important Questions to Ask A Buyer’s Agent Before You Hire Them
The infographics, headers, and icons are all visually appealing and make for an enjoyable reader experience.

Need Help With Your Blog?
Blogging is an investment in your business. With every high-quality post you publish, you’re giving Google another post to index, so you can rank higher on Google searches. Eventually, your blog will become a completely passive stream of leads!
No buying leads, no cold calling, no spending a fortune on advertising. Just leads being delivered to you on a silver platter every month!
It all starts with your investment in your blog. If you have the time to invest, do it. If you don’t have the time, invest some money in outsourcing it. You can hire a professional blogger to write your posts. Negotiate with your writer for the byline rights; you want to be able to publish the post as your own work, under your own name.
An experienced real estate blogger can even help you create a content strategy to make the most of your blog content.

People talk about class A,B,C, and D home investing?
Hi Julie,
The class system is simply a quick way to categorize properties by quality. A Class investments are high-quality builds, well maintained, and located in the best neighborhoods. B Class investments are typically a little older and may need some TLC. C Class investments are generally major fixer-uppers. D Class investments are major fixer-uppers in rough neighborhoods.
